Former President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev urged to fight attempts to justify political repression in the Soviet Union, August 13, reports TASS.

Gorbachev made a statement in connection with the 30th anniversary of the signing of the decree “On the restoration of the rights of all victims of political repressions 20-50 years” from August 13, 1990.

In his opinion, today it is necessary to defend the achievements of perestroika, as alleged attempts to justify mass repressions. Gorbachev believes that the decree has allowed to adopt the rule of law state.

Recall from 1987 to 1990 rehabilitated more than 1 million people.
