Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the establishment of Father’s Day.

“In order to strengthen the institution of the family and increase the importance of fatherhood in the upbringing of children, I decide to establish Father’s Day and celebrate it on the third Sunday of October,” the document says.

The decree comes into force from the date of its official publication. Russians will celebrate the first Father’s Day on October 17.
