The public prosecutor’s office in Potsdam is investigating the US electric car manufacturer Tesla on suspicion of the unauthorized operation of systems. The investigation is based on a criminal complaint by the State Environment Agency against the company and is related to the operation of a temporary hazardous materials warehouse on the premises of the Tesla factory in Grünheide near Berlin, the Potsdam public prosecutor said on Monday on request. The RBB reported first.

The public prosecutor’s office explained that it would be checked whether and, if so, who could be accused of criminal offenses with regard to the necessary permits. Because of the ongoing process, no further information could be given. Tesla initially did not comment on request. The company started production in Grünheide in March.
