“the Crisis of the nuclear deal with Iran is threatening the wholesale nuclearization, not only in the middle East, but all over the world” – with such a warning made by President of the Luxembourg forum on preventing nuclear catastrophe Viatcheslav Kantor. His opinion was echoed by other experts who participated in the online conference, the influential international summit.

Among the participants are such recognizable persons as former U.S. defense Secretary William Perry; President, Pugwash movement of scientists, previously a senior UN representative for disarmament, Sergio Duarte, Professor at the Monterey Institute of international studies (USA), William Potter and others.

in Total, the discussion was attended by about twenty well-known politicians, scientists, experts in the field of safety of different countries, including Russia.

As is known, the agreement on settlement of the Iranian nuclear program, called the Joint comprehensive plan of action (SVPD) was concluded on 14 July 2015 with the participation of six international mediators – Russia, the USA, China, UK, France and Germany. The plan provides for a gradual lifting of sanctions against Iran in exchange for limits on its nuclear program (failure otraslevoi nuclear weapons and highly enriched uranium R & d in this area, construction of infrastructure, heavy water reactors and the control of the IAEA).

However, on may 8, 2018 US President Donald trump announced the US withdrawal from the AGREEMENT. A year later, in response to the step 8 may 2019, Iran announced the termination of the implementation of a number of points of the plan, and subsequently repeatedly refused their other commitments. July 1, 2020, the US special envoy on Iran Brian hook said that the USA consider possibility of application of military force against Iran to prevent that country getting nuclear weapons.

as a result, the US withdrawal from the nuclear deal in Iran has created a new pain point around the Iranian nuclear program and the situation in the region. Today the issue of prevention of nuclear conflict in the middle East is particularly acute. Today, Iran has crossed the red line and openly moving to create nuclear weapons, while Israel is not going to let him do it. The tension is growing every day.

– Because the actual termination of the AGREEMENT actually returns the situation of acute crisis around the Iranian nuclear program to a state in which Iran can develop nuclear weapons in the shortest possible time (maximum one year). Iran is currently in violation of one after the other restrictions and prohibitions taken under the AGREEMENT, openly obstructing the lawful operations of the IAEA, noted Kantor.

the President of the Forum alsoshowed that Iran continues testing missiles with enhanced range and currently has a whole range of missiles, capable of hitting Israel and countries across Europe. The escalation of political tension and violence in the middle East has become one of the most dangerous regional crises, growing on the background of confrontation between the great world powers and the tragic consequences of the pandemic COVID-19.

the conference Participants stressed the inadmissibility of further escalation of the crisis and possible nuclear conflict in the middle East between Iran and Israel, as well as more large-scale war with a high probability of involving other States. According to experts, national leaders and heads of international organizations should take all necessary efforts to reduce tensions and prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

following the event, the Luxembourg forum experts prepared a final document with the main conclusions and recommendations that will be presented to heads of state, officials and leaders of the UN security Council, IAEA and other international organizations.
