Sabathia questioned why La Russa is even managing the team if he’s not standing up for his players

Former MLB celebrity CC Sabathia ripped Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa for how he handled the drama over Chicago White Sox slugger Yermin Mercedes hitting a home run off a Minnesota Twins position player who was put on the mound during a blowout earlier this week.

“That’s just f–ing stupid. It’s stupid period, I’m sorry. The s–t is dreadful. He shouldn’t be f–kng managing that team, and if you’re not planning to measure up and have your participant’s back, what’s the point of being the f–king manager of the White Sox? S–t is dumb as f–k sorry,” he explained.

“This is precisely what I had been telling you if they hired him. He is just so out of touch with the sport and most individuals are. I sit here and see Christopher Russo on MLB Network. He’s out of touch with the game. Much like Tony La Russa is out of touch with the game. He shouldn’t be handling one of the greatest teams in the American League, period.”

La Russa said Mercedes made an error by hitting a 3-0 home run in the middle of an 11-run blowout on Monday and the issue will be handled from the dugout.

On Tuesday night, Mercedes almost took a chunk into the shin within the home run in the seventh inning. La Russa said he didn’t have a problem with what the Twins did. He would double back on his stance on Wednesday before their match.

Mercedes’ teammates Tim Anderson and Lance Lynn came out in service for him. Mercedes himself had stated he has no plans on changing his playing style.

Sabathia added:”The fact that Tim Anderson, who’s essentially the captain of their group, needed to go on Instagram and measure up for his teammate, like,’Yeah, the game was not over. If you are going to put a f–ing standing player in there to pitch, guess what? If he is going to lob s–t within the plate, we going to f–king tee off.’ If ya’ll do not want to see folks get embarrassed and also you don’t wish to see position players pitch and individuals swing 3-0 counts and s–t, then create a 10-run rule the f–king match would be over and you do not have these stupid a*s unwritten rules.”

The White Sox’s choice to employ La Russa in the first place, he hadn’t been at a dugout since 2011, was met with question marks. He is the oldest manager in the majors but also includes three World Series titles on his resume.
