Long the Fans had to wait, but now the DTM umbrella organization ITR has responded to the Coronavirus pandemic: The also has a Background, because instead of moving just a single race, you have presented a completely new calendar that includes, as originally ten race weekends planned. Instead of in Zolder at the end of April. the season with the classics on the Noris ring of 10 to 12. July to be started. August is either planned the race in St. Petersburg or in Anderstorp. The same applies for the appointment of 2. to 4. October.

Zolder receives a new appointment as the third race (7. – 9. August), before the week-end in Brands Hatch, Assen and on the Nurburgring as originally scheduled to go on the stage. While the Finale would have been the beginning of October in Hockenheim planned to take the DTM season 2020 now until mid-November.

The race at the lausitzring will be from mid-April on the weekend of the 16th. to 18. October moved to the Hockenheim ring (6. – 8.11.) the season loses the final in Monza (13. – 15.11.). There are, according to the new draft, which still needs to be FIA approved, no Overlap with the long-distance classics in Le Mans (19. – 20.9.) and on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife (26. – 27.9.).

“We are experiencing an unprecedented and uncertain time – and the well-being of our families, employees and the society is most Important to us”, to justify the new ITR-managing Director Marcel Mohaupt the Changes. “Despite the uncertainty, we believe it is important to Motorsport Fans worldwide and to all members of the DTM family in a customized calendar with new dates you have requested.”

“It is clear that the safe containment and treatment of this terrible epidemic for all a top priority,” continues Mohaupt. “But we believe that Sport can play an important role when it comes to bringing back normalcy in the lives of the people. With the support of our Fans, the DTM manufacturers Audi and BMW, which will bring 16 cars on the starting grid, the race tracks and all of our partners, we want to make all of this year, an exciting season on the legs.”

Mohaupt is aware, however, that a reliable planning is currently hardly possible: “We know that we must continue to act flexibly and pragmatically. This is a first step – and we promise that we will be strengthened in return. As soon as a return to the race track is safe, we want to have with the DTM of the way.”
