Donetsk returned the name of Stalin for three days in a year

Donetsk for three days in a year returned to its former name Stalin, a decree signed by the head of the breakaway Donetsk national Republic (DND) Denis Pushilin. This was reported by “Donetsk news Agency”.

the President decided to establish the name “city of Stalin” as a symbol of Donetsk and use it during events related to memorable dates of the great Patriotic war. We are talking about 9 may, 22 June and 8 September — the Day of liberation of Donbass. Donetsk was named Stalino in the years 1929-1961.

Earlier, the authorities of the self-proclaimed Luhansk national Republic (LNR) has allowed three days a year to use the old name of the city Lugansk, Voroshilovgrad.

part of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions declared independence in 2014 after a change of Central government in Ukraine as a result of Euromaidan. Kiev has tried to regain control over the Donbas by force. Ukraine accuses Russia of supporting separatism and occupation of these lands. Moscow denies the claim.
