At the age of 71 years died a famous coach Gennady Turkish, trained by the legendary swimmer Alexander Popov.
Gennady Turkish died Friday. According to RT, the renowned coach who trained four-time Olympic champion Alexander Popov and many other athletes, suffered a massive stroke.
71-year-old Turkish was taken to a hospital in Switzerland, where he lived, but despite all the efforts of doctors to save him failed.
Gennady Turkish went swimming, but to achieve high results, he failed. But as a coach he became famous working with the legendary Alexander Popov, who managed to become a four-time Olympic champion, and to win six gold medals at the world Championships.
Under his leadership was engaged and the other swimmers who have achieved success in the international arena – Gennady prigoda, Benjamin Tanovic, Yuri Mukhin, Vladimir Pyshnenko, who won Olympic gold in the 4×200 relay.
