Daughter of ex-head of Uzbekistan Gulnara Karimova agree to return to the Treasury of 686 million dollars in exchange for their freedom

Gulnara Karimova, the eldest daughter of the first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov (he held the post 25 years since the independence and until the death in 2016), asked the current President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to help her to go free.

In 2017 Karimov was sentenced to ten years imprisonment, but later the court changed the sentence to restriction of liberty for five years, allowing them to serve their sentences at home of his daughter, informs radio “Freedom”. The court reasoned sentence that is in new condition Karimov will be able to perform “the obligation to return proceeds of crime by way of cash and reimbursement of damage caused to the state”.
