First of all, the Belarusian parliamentarian drew the attention of colleagues that threats to the security of the CSTO countries are growing in all directions and in all dimensions. He also reminded about the legislative initiatives of his country for the development of model laws on intelligence, counterintelligence, investigative, and security activities, as well as on the draft concept of the migration security of States – members of the CSTO.

the Speaker thanked the participants for their fruitful work in the new format and noted that objectively the difficult circumstances related to the pandemic coronavirus, do not stop the activities of the parliamentary Assembly.

About the priorities of Russia during its presidency in the organization informed the participants of the meeting, the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. He noted in particular that the pandemic faced by humanity, influenced the economy of each country, has become a serious test of the effectiveness of international institutions. The Russian politician is convinced that there should be strengthened the potential of the CSTO to respond to such calls in the interests of the welfare of citizens.

the meeting was attended by CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas, who informed about the outcome of the session of the collective security Council of the CSTO, which took place in November last year.

in addition, the meeting participants considered the results of the program activities of the Assembly on the approximation and harmonization of national legislation for 2016-2020. The Chairman of permanent Commission of the CSTO parliamentary Assembly, Belarusian MP Igor Lavrinenko said, in particular, that his Commission has completed work on eight model laws CSTO, recommendations and other legal acts. Until the end of 2020 it is planned to prepare four more. Touching upon the plans for the coming five years, he was informed of the intention to develop 26 model laws.

the meeting discussed a draft programme for the harmonisation of national legislation on 2021-2025 years, the financing of the Assembly and a number of organizational issues.

as observers in the work of the Assembly was attended by the Chairman of the lower house of the Parliament of Afghanistan Mir Rahman Rahmani and Vice-speaker of the national Assembly of Serbia Veroljub the p. arsić, said the Agency.
