MOSCOW, 29 Sep – RIA Novosti. Columbia officially became the 37th member of the Organization for economic cooperation and development (OECD), said in a statement on the website of the OECD.

“Colombia officially received the status of a member of the OECD, becoming the 37th country to do so in the nearly 60-year history of the organization,” the statement reads.

it is Emphasized that the OECD member countries officially invited Colombia to join the organization in may 2018 after a five-year accession process, during which the country “has carried out serious reforms to bring its legislation, policies and practices into line with OECD standards”.

“We are pleased to welcome Colombia as the 37th member of the OECD. Colombia’s entry is proof that we are committed to unite the countries aspiring to achieve the highest standards in the global state policies with the aim of improving the welfare and quality of life of its citizens,” said OECD Secretary-General Jose angel Gurria.
