Such an accumulation of coaching dismissals is rare at the end of a Bundesliga season. With Adi Hütter (Mönchengladbach), Markus Weinzierl (Augsburg), Florian Kohfeldt (Wolfsburg) and Sebastian Hoeneß (Hoffenheim), four coaches had to vacate their positions at the end of the season.
In addition, Stefan Leitl from relegated Greuther Fürth also left the club to train Hannover 96 in the new season. At least his successor has already been settled. The Swiss Marc Schneider succeeds Leitl in Franconia.
In contrast to fellow relegated Fürth, Arminia Bielefeld has not yet presented a new coach. Marco Kostmann, who took over for Frank Kramer who was fired, will return to his role as goalkeeper coach. At the management level, there will be another change at the East Westphalian by the end of the year at the latest. CFO Markus Rejek is moving to 1. FC Köln.
Even with the relegation team Hertha BSC, the future of the coaching position is unclear. It is not possible to predict whether Felix Magath will continue in the league after the duels against HSV (first leg on Thursday from 8.30 p.m. in the live ticker of FOCUS Online) or not.
Promoted Schalke 04 is also looking for a new man on the line. Mike Büskens took over in the final stages of the season for the fired Dimitrios Grammozis and led Schalke to promotion. In the coming season, however, the “Eurofighter” will slip back into the role of assistant coach.
The coach for the Bundesliga season should actually be presented after the last game in Nuremberg. However, this plan has not yet been implemented by the Schalke managers. Schalke sports director Rouven Schröder only said that there was “a favorite”.
In Mönchengladbach, Augsburg, Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim it is also unclear which coach is preparing the team for the coming season. As so often, there are many rumours, but nothing has been officially announced yet.

The chair back in the Bundesliga does not only refer to the coaching position. In Augsburg, President Klaus Hofmann resigned before the last Bundesliga weekend. But it didn’t stop there: After President Hofmann and coach Weinzierl, scout and club legend Daniel Baier also announced his resignation. According to “Kicker” information, all three cite problems with manager Stefan Reuter as the reason.
One thing is certain: there will be numerous trainer performances in the coming weeks. Time is tight: the Bundesliga starts on August 5 due to the World Cup in Qatar.
