The most popular car colors are, strictly speaking, no: White, in accordance with the selected one of the Seat study published by the paint manufacturer Axalta worldwide, 39 percent of car buyers, is considered to be achromatic. It arises when a surface reflects all colors of the Spectrum. And behind it is? Black – this is black, because, again, nothing at all is reflected, and global in order to 16 percent share of all auto paints, comes.

Why these preferences? Simple ists in Turkmenistan: 2015 has been determined by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, that only white cars are allowed to be imported. Blacks are forbidden! Officially it lies in the desert climate (this Berdimuhamedow could read in the GLANCE that black cars outside, but not inside, more heat). Gossip’s sake, it’s the fact that the dictator was a dentist with a penchant for white Marmorprotz earlier.

Black is more dangerous

Maybe you’d have to ban Black as a car color actually. Because black cars are involved, according to an Australian study, twelve percent more often in accidents than white. Weil’s preferred color is faster and heavier sled (Europ approximately 34 percent of all luxury SUVs black)? No: You can see white cars during the day better. At night all the cars are grey, then crash according to investigation dark like bright colors equally often.

climate and superstition

But why is asked, for example, White regional so different? In China, for example, 60 per cent, in the United States and Europe, a good quarter of the buyer. “White is a very pure, versatile color,” explains Jordi Font of the Seat color and finishing Department, which offers, for example, the new Seat of Arona in 68 color combinations: “The differences can be explained by several factors: climate, superstition, the desire for elegant colors, in countries where cars are considered more as a status symbol.” In China, for example, White is considered the color of purity and fulfillment. In Japan, wearing White as a sign of mourning at funerals. So it is no wonder, in Japan with 22 per cent share of Black especially popular.

India remains on the silver

Behind White and Black and three silver global eleven per cent share is the second – 15 years ago silver was at rank one. Particularly popular is in India, with almost one-third share in all the German-speaking countries, it lies to the second place, in China, in contrast, only six per cent.

Italians see Red

Behind White, Black and silver (including grey) are regional differences most clearly: In Germany, the United States or ten percent of the car is decorated in Blue, in China, practically none. And Red is just especially by the Mediterranean, not to us, but actually runs around the Mediterranean sea: In Switzerland, reached Red, for example, in the case of cars of Seat rank 6 in Italy, 4th place, and in Spain 3rd place in the hitlist.

The more expensive, the blacker

This is also due to vehicle classes: “A sporty model is not in the same color palette is available as a SUV, that comes in earthy and nature related sounds at its best”, underlined Font. You can see that part on studies such as the Tavascan, which shows the future face of the Seat daughter Cupra. In Spain, smaller and smaller engined cars – the want to be at least conspicuous colours, and quickly, and that’s why bright colours are dominate. Switzerland is, in contrast, PS-love-and SUV-heavy, so the colour is rather gloomy.

According to a study by Nissan, 86 percent of the people driving by the way, a car whose color is not actually fit to your personality – otherwise, for instance, Orange would have to be more and more frequent. Although this vibrant color is more recently, as a Trend, often in car Ads or car press photos, hard to see but on the road. But color trends take time and the fear of the reaction of the neighbors, and the more difficult re-sale to dominate.
