“It will be to poke the wool over the eyes of the parents, if we believe in a full re-opening after the 15. april.”

So cash reads the message from Elisa Rimpler, who is the president of BUPL – teachers ‘ trade union.

After she has looked to the requirements of the national board of Health ‘guide for the gradual, controlled re-opening of the day – ’ through, a full re-opening is practically not feasible.

the Requirements are in the following BUPL-the president is simply too extensive.

In each case if they shall be redeemed before the 15. april, as prime minister, Mette Frederiksen (S) otherwise proclaimed during his speech in the prime minister’s office Monday evening, which was good news for the many pressed parents of young children, who in more than three weeks even had to stand for the babysitting, while they have kept their jobs.

“It is the strict and stringent requirements, as – I according to the ministers can understand – not debate. They must be redeemed. And it is all together huge, logistical requirements, which will require more resources in day-care institutions. And we have not, as it looks now,” says Elisa Rimpler.

the national board of Health 15 pages long ‘guidance for gradual, controlled re-opening of the day care’ includes everything from how the day-care institutions should be organized to how close they are allowed to sit on each other while they are playing or eating lunch.

Among other things, it says in the instructions to pre-kindergarten children are recommended a free floor area of six square meters per child, while kindergarten students must have four square meters per. child.

“Only the requirements for the square meter is a doubling compared to normal. And it means that we must work in a completely different way. My first reaction when I saw it here, was: it sounds impossible to imagine a re-opening after easter. I just do not believe that one can achieve to be ready in time,” says BUPL-the president.

Exercise care and patience

Elisa Rimpler hope that parents and politicians will stand together and show care and patience.

Especially with the thought that the coming weeks and months will be placed a large responsibility on the educators and the leaders ‘ shoulders.

“I think that we should urge for calm and make a clear matching of expectations, it is important that we take the guidelines seriously. We must. For the children’s sake. But also for the staff and for the parents,” she says and continues:

“And so it is important that genåbnigen does not go beyond the children. We should not scold the children out or limit them in a way so they become insecure and afraid. At the same time, we need to look after ourselves. And therefore I hope that the local council enforces the guidelines, before we are ready for them.”

“Mette Frederiksen said it yourself during the speech: Rather do it slow and controlled and be sure that we do it right. I hope that they listen to out in the municipalities.”

During his speech on Monday night did Mette Frederiksen, it is clear that it is the municipalities ‘responsibility to ensure that the day-care institutions live up to the Danish national board of Health recommendations, and that it is also the municipalities’ responsibility to determine when it is safe to re-open nurseries and kindergartens.
