Robert Lewandowski marked his 35th goal of the season (40th minute), it was his 312th Bundesliga goal in total. In addition, Josip Stanisic (17th) scored for Bayern. Jonas Wind (45th) and Max Kruse (58th) were successful for Wolfsburg.
World footballer Lewandowski wants to leave Munich in the summer despite the contract by 2023. “It’s quite possible that it was my last game for FC Bayern. I can’t say for sure, but it could be. We want to find the best solution for me and the club,” said the Pole on Saturday.
Before the game, sports director Hasan Salihamidzic at Sky admitted that Lewandowski actually wants to leave: “He informed me that he did not want to accept our offer to extend the contract and that he would like to leave the club.” FC Barcelona, with whom, according to a report by Sport1, the attacker had verbally agreed on a change.
Lewandowski was top scorer in the Bundesliga for the seventh time in total and for the fifth time in a row. He won the award with a large lead over Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick (24) and received the cannon after the game in Wolfsburg.
Lewandowski’s reign last broke through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for Borussia Dortmund in 2016/17. Since the introduction of the Bundesliga, only Gerd Müller had achieved the best number of Bundesliga goals three times in a row in the early 1970s, although he shared the honor with Jupp Heynckes in 1974.
So far, Müller has held the record of seven awards as top scorer – Lewandowski has now drawn level with him.
