The Deputy of the state Duma of the Russian Federation of the Crimea region Michael Sheremet called blasphemy the plans of the President of Ukraine to erect a monument in the form of a bell in Simferopol.
Earlier the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said about the start of the project on creation of the memorial symbols, in which you plan to install four bells, including the bell of Peace in Donetsk and the bell of Unity in Simferopol. According to him, at a time when in Ukraine there will be peace, four bells at the same time will inform about this emblematic event in the history of Ukraine.
"the President of Ukraine to stop play with words and to interfere in the Affairs of a neighboring state. Ukraine has no relation to Crimea. It looks blasphemous. Ukrainian authorities need not only new monuments to build, but to preserve existing ones, which are reminiscent of the great victory of the Soviet people over fascism," said RIA Novosti Sheremet.
According to him, Ukrainian authorities need once and for all write claims to the Crimea and to start to build good neighborly relations with Russia.
"That’s when we should erect a monument on the Crimean part of the Russian-Ukrainian state border, symbolizing the brotherly relations between the two countries", – said the Deputy.
Crimea became a Russian region after held there in March 2014 referendum in which an overwhelming majority of voters of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol voted for entry into structure of Russia. Crimean authorities held a referendum after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014. Ukraine still considers Crimea its but temporarily occupied territory. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the inhabitants of Crimea democratically in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter voted for reunification with Russia. According to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Crimea "permanently closed".
