Peter Schmeichel is selected to the best Premier League keeper in a vote on the BBC’s website.

Peter Schmeichels abilities as a goalkeeper are still remembered in England.

Sunday is the 56-year-old Manchester United legend has been named to the Premier League’s best keeper in history.

In a poll on the tv station the BBC’s website, Schmeichel pulled the most votes among more than 160.000 users, which over recent days have participated in the election.

the BBC’s panel of experts, consisting of the former top players Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Ian Wright had before the vote narrowed the field to ten Premier League goalkeepers.

Users of the BBC website would then rank the top ten goalies one after another.

He had his heyday in the United from 1991 to 1999, where he won five English championships.

the Dane won the vote ahead of Petr Cech, who from 2004 and 11 years was a great profile of Chelsea, before the Czech finished his career with some seasons in the Arsenal.

the Dutchman Edwin van der Sar, who, like Schmeichel kept goal for United, and was number three in the vote.

the BBC experts Gary Lineker and Ian Wright were in the 1990s in face-to-face with Schmeichel on the pitch and kommentatorduoen have great respect for the dane.

“He was the best goalie I faced in my time. A phenomenal goalie,” says Lineker, while Wright adds:

“I scored only against him in practice matches. He was the only goalie, I made me thoughts about before matches, because he was so good. As a goalkeeper I had a genuine hatred for him.”

Peter Schmeichel managed to represent the three Premier League clubs in his career. He was past Aston Villa and Manchester City, before in 2003 he chose to stop.
