Belarusians and Ukrainians in Russia are considered Russian speakers

the Russian President has signed a law under which citizens of Belarus and Ukraine, fluent in Russian language, recognised by native speakers without an interview.

This status enables its holder to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner.

At the moment the citizens of other States and persons without citizenship can be recognized as native Russian speakers only the results of the interviews conducted by the relevant Commission, reminds TASS.

According to the presidential law issued on 18 March on an official Internet portal of legal information, it is determined that fluent in the Russian language, Ukrainians and Belarusians when submitting a personal application for recognition of their native Russian language as well as in the presence of bases can be recognized by the Commission as such without an interview.

the Law will enter into force 90 days after its official publication.
