President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has appointed Deputy foreign Minister Oleg Kravchenko Ambassador to the United States, BelTA informs. The Ambassador is appointed for the first time in 12 years — Washington and Minsk had mutually revoked in 2008 because of U.S. sanctions.Mr. Kravchenko said that Minsk and Washington there are many areas for cooperation. “Among the areas in which our interests coincide, primarily cooperation in the field of attracting financial resources, economic and energy dialogue, international security, law enforcement cooperation”,— he said.USA in 2006, imposed sanctions against certain Belarusians and Belarusian companies because of accusations of human rights violations.
