the U.S. Government recently stepped up pressure on the European contractors involved in the construction of the pipeline “Nord stream-2”. It is reported by the German newspaper Die Welt, citing sources.

As it became known publication, the American side has conducted at least two conferences with contractors from Europe. In particular, they participated 12 representatives from three ministries: state Department, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of energy. According to sources, “they made it very clear that they want to prevent the completion of the pipeline.” The sources said the actions of the American side “very serious threat”.

on July 22, the house of representatives of US Congress approved the defense budget by 2021. The document contains additional sanctions against Russian pipeline “Nord stream-2”. In particular, the restrictive measures proposed to extend to companies and individuals who contribute significantly to the sale, lease, or provide ships for the laying of pipes for construction of gas pipelines, as well as their insurance.

the gas Pipeline “Nord stream-2” from Russia to Germany under the Baltic sea was supposed to start in late 2019. The project launch date was postponed to the turn of the 2020-2021 years, first because of the position of Denmark, which did not coordinate the route of the project through their water and then because of the U.S. sanctions against companies involved in the project.
