Apple rewrote the recommendation for cleaning iPhone due to coronavirus

Apple has rewritten the guidelines for the care of the iPhone — obviously, because of the epidemic of the coronavirus. Now there clarifies that smartphones allowed to clean some types of disinfectant wipes.

the Following text appeared on the eve of publication on the English support website of the company and for smartphones iPhone, iPad tablets, Mac computers and peripherals:

“Using cloth with 70 percent isopropyl alcohol or Clorox wipes, you can carefully wipe hard, non-porous surfaces of your Apple products, such as display, keyboard or an external surface. Do not use bleach. Avoid getting moisture in any openings and do not immerse product in any kind of detergent. Do not use on fabric or leather surfaces.”

Probably the company has decided that significant harm the oleophobic coating (it is used to facilitate the utilization of touch screen and prevents the surface to collect the fat from the skin) this treatment will not cause.

On the Russian version of the Apple support website yet retain the earlier recommendations. They say that the iPhone must be cleaned with a soft, lint free cloth, for example, a slightly water-dampened cloth to clean optics.

In the case of contaminants that is acceptable to wet the lint-free cloth in warm soapy water — but only in the case of highly protected from water ingress devices such as iPhone iPhone 11 or 11 Pro. This is recommended not to use cleaning products or compressed air. Also clarifies that cleaning products and abrasive materials can scratch the iPhone with an oleophobic coating and leave scratches.
