In Moscow will be restored, a monument to the writer Maxim Gorky, the author of which is the legendary sculptor Vera Mukhina. This monument is the cultural heritage object of regional importance. He is in the territory of the Institute of world literature named after A. M. Gorky of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Gorky Monument was opened on 11th January 1956. This is a sculpture of the writer in full growth, made of bronze. Hands behind his back. Head rotation, pose, Cape fluttering — all this creates a dynamic image. Sculpture is mounted on a thin bronze plinth and placed on the granite pedestal of cubical shape.

This is not the only monument to Gorky, which was created by Vera Mukhina. The most famous work in which she participated, — the monument of the writer, placed in front of the Belorussky railway station. In 2017, after nearly 12 years of being in the Park of arts “Muzeon”, it is returned to its original place.

Before that, the monument was restored, and the pedestal under the sculpture re-assembled after dismantling in 2005. Group of authors, which was composed of Alexey Zhdanov and Nina Zaitseva, became a laureate of the contest “Moscow restoration — 2017” for the best project of restoration and high quality repair and restoration work.

In the same year was restored several monuments in which Vera Mukhina played a crucial role: the sculpture “Fertility” in the Park of Friendship on the Festival street and allegorical sculpture “Earth” and “Water” on Luzhnetskaya waterfront. In 2018 has completed the comprehensive restoration of the house, where last years lived and worked Vera Mukhina. The two-story building located at the address: Prechistensky pereulok, 5A, was built in 1947. Large-scale restoration lasted about two years and has affected both residential and working of the house. At the same time in order to lead and a monument in the Prechistensky lane, dedicated to the Vera Mukhina.

Regular support work is carried out and the famous sculptural composition “the Eternal youth of science” at the main building of Moscow state University named after M. V. Lomonosov.

Previously doing the restoration not only of the monuments created by Vera Mukhina, but the gravestones over which she labored. So, in 2014, the restoration of three important works in her oeuvre: the tombs of Gorky’s son, Maxim Peshkov, in the Novodevichy cemetery; gravestones of Soviet doctor Alexei castle, husband of Vera Mukhina, and tombstones heroes of the Soviet Union Joseph Dandie. These monuments have the status of a cultural heritage object of Federal significance.

In 1935-1937 by her sketches was created the monument “worker and collective farm girl”, which was intended for the Soviet pavilion at the world exhibition in Paris, designed by Boris Iofan, and many other monuments in the capital that has become legendary.
