the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Association football (UAF) has decided to extend the contract with chief coach of the national team of Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko and his assistants until the end of 2022, according to the official website of the organization.

According to 43-year-old specialist, “the agreement was reached” in the near future the parties will decide “the legal way”.

“I Want to thank you for the support and warm reception, – said Shevchenko. – I am very pleased that the Executive Committee of the UAF made it possible for me and members of my staff for another two and a half years to continue working in the team of Ukraine”.

Shevchenko led the national team of Ukraine in July 2016. Under his leadership, the team failed to qualify for the world championship in Russia, finishing third in their qualifying group. But then the Ukrainians came to the 2020 European championship by winning qualifying group, which also played the national teams of Portugal and Serbia.

In the final tournament of the Euro, which the pandemic is postponed to 2021, the national team of Ukraine will play in group C, its rivals will be the teams from the Netherlands, Austria and one of the winners of the play-offs.
