New developments in the case of the foiled attack on two schools in Essen. Police have taken another young man into custody. He is said to have exchanged explosive messages via a chat with the suspect.

Five days after a possible attack on two schools in Essen-Borbeck was foiled, a police special task force stormed the apartment of another young man. As reported by the “Bild” newspaper, the young man was taken away in handcuffs.

The mission is related to the events of last Thursday, writes the newspaper. The suspected 16-year-old and the young man who has now been arrested are said to have chatted regularly a year ago. They probably exchanged messages that now called the investigators on the scene.

As the “Bild” continues to write, the messages are said to have been found on the 16-year-old’s computer. It is still unclear whether the young man is actually being investigated.

On Thursday morning at around 4.20 a.m., a special task force stormed the 16-year-old’s apartment and arrested him. Among other things, the investigators found bomb-making material and several crossbows on the suspect. He is in custody.
