Niko Kovac (50) returns to the Bundesliga. According to media reports, he will coach VfL Wolfsburg from the coming season.

Bundesliga return: Niko Kovac (50) is the new coach of VfL Wolfsburg, as reported by the “Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung” (WAZ). Accordingly, VfL and Kovac have agreed to work together until 2025. His brother Robert (48) will act as assistant coach. Thomas Reis (Bochum) and Adi Hütter (most recently Gladbach) were traded as alternatives for the coaching post in Wolfsburg.

Competition: After all, five Bundesliga clubs (Schalke, Augsburg, Hoffenheim, Gladbach, Wolfsburg) were without a coach after the end of the season. Kovac is said to have attracted the interest of Borussia Mönchengladbach. Ultimately, however, he chose the wolves.

Experience: Kovac looked after Frankfurt Eintracht between 2016 and 2018 before moving to Munich. His tenure there ended almost a year later. Most recently, the native of Berlin was on the sidelines at AS Monaco in France.
