Åge Hareide has officially said goodbye to the title as national coach for the Danish national team, which, because of coronakrisen ended abruptly.

“I’ve had four fantastic years in Denmark, and there will always be ups and downs in such a scenario, but here to end, it was a downer. It is sad when something ends on the way.”

this is the sound of the announcement from the Norwegian trainer in an interview with Eurosport.

Here he looks back on a time where a defeat to Montenegro at home in the Park was the turning point for his tenure as Danish national coach, while the historic wins over Poland and Ireland, a game comback in Switzerland and a 1/8-final of the WORLD cup still stands as the largest farms Åge Hareides personal huskebog.

With two slutrundekvalifikationer the 66-year-old Norwegian managed to make his mark in English football history, and just the images have an international goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel also chosen to celebrate. ( You can see the advertisement at the bottom of the article .)

“Thank you for everything, Åge. You have given us the danes the amazing memories and experiences that will follow us for many years. You have restored the faith of the Danish national team and helped to bring the nation together around us. Thank you for the journey and all the good memories we have together shared. It has been a pleasure to play under you,” writes the Danish star in a posting on his Instagram profile.

In the interview with Eurosport the Norwegian coach did not help to comment on the keeper touching words:

“Kasper Schmeichel has been so important for the national team. He is a great man, and he is very into it to represent his country. I know that he believes what he writes.”

but the captain, Simon Kjær, is out with words of praise about Åge Hareide, as the Danish defender is calling for a large man.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to Åge. He has created a fantastic winning mentality and team spirit – and along with him we have developed a unique ability to never lose football matches. Åge is a great coach, but an even greater human being,” says the captain, in the DBU’s Instagram page.

Åge Hareide is supposed to have been at the forefront of the Danish national team during the european championship, but because of the fear of the coronavirus is the finals deferred to the next summer, and nordmandens contract expires 31. July of this year.

His last game for Denmark was thus 1-1 draw in Ireland, which gave Denmark a ticket to the european championship finals.
