The Viking ship, preserved almost in full in recent times was discovered in Norway a hundred years ago.

In Norway, in the area where 2018 were found fragments of an ancient Viking ship excavations began. To retrieve a large vessel, named by researchers “Ship Hellestad” completely will need approximately five months.

Work close to Halden will be the first excavations of Viking ships over the past century. The accidental discovery has already received the status of one of the biggest discoveries in the field of archaeology since the Second world war.

The Norwegian government allocated 15.6 million kroons for excavations, which must be completed as soon as possible for maximum safety of the rapidly decaying ship.

According to the Telegraph Bureau NTB, the ship originally had a size 23-24 meters and was created around the year 733. The authorities have called “Ship Hellestad” treasure of world culture.
