a Fragment of an ancient ship found at the bottom of the Baltic sea, delivered to the Kaliningrad Museum of the World ocean for research and restoration.

As reported in the press service of the Museum, the object detected in the area Pioneer is the rudder of a large sailing vessel. This is probably the remnants of the traditional inhabitants of the coast of the Curonian and Vistula lagoons boat Rasengan used for the transport of goods and passengers, but so far confirm this.

Presumably, the discovery dates from the second half of the XIX century, but we need further investigation by specialists. After preservation in the restoration workshop of the Museum object, possibly will be on display at the “pole yard” the branch of the Museum – historical and cultural center “Ship Sunday” in Fredriksbergs the gate.

you have exposed a fragment of Rasengan. He was found in 2014 during the Museum expedition on the Vistula spit and after the restoration became a Museum piece. Although these boats were common in the region in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, not a single instance up to the present day have not survived. There is only a replica of Rasengan, which was made by the shipbuilders in neighboring Lithuania.
