Chinese archaeologists during excavations on the territory of the province Zhejiang in East China have discovered a prehistoric mound age of about 8000 years, which can be either the oldest in this region settlement.

according to the Agency “Xinhua”, the research work was carried out on the ruins of the ancient city of Csintalan. It was located near the modern city of Yuyao, which is under the control of the authorities of the metropolis of Ningbo.

Archaeological sites were discovered in 2013 during drilling operations. Here was planned the construction of the plant. However, archaeologists examined the local mound and came to the conclusion that it might be man-made.

the Excavations here began only in the autumn of 2019. Since that time scientists have discovered a large number of artifacts, including ceramics, articles of bone and stone, ornaments made of shells.

Also found were the remains of animals and traces of domesticated plants. In particular, discovered here is evidence of rice cultivation may be ancient.

Radiocarbon Dating of artifacts, conducted in laboratories of Beijing University, showed that the relic of the mound may represent the remains of an ancient settlement.

moreover, scientists believe that people settled here in the period from 8300 to 7800 years ago. Still in the region of Ningbo was considered the oldest settlement culture Hemudu that is about 1000 years younger was found in the city. This means that the history of the settlement of coastal regions and the whole of China may be revised.

As already told “RG” previously, Chinese archaeologists discovered in the Central province of Henan ruins of a large city, whose age is not less than 5300 years. He belongs to the later period of culture of Anshao that occurred about 7,000 years ago. It was one of the largest settlements of the time.
