Abramovich doesn’t see a penny: the 4.25 billion pounds (approx. 5 billion euros) proceeds from the sale are intended to benefit war victims in Ukraine. The previous owner Roman Abramovich is on the British and EU sanctions lists because of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

Countless offers: according to Chelsea, there were more than 250 inquiries from potential buyers. In the end, three of twelve “credible offers” remained. According to a statement from the Chelsea Board of Directors, the consortium led by Boehly was convincing through its commitment as the owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team and the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Sparks basketball teams.
