Women who accused an American producer Harvey Weinstein in sexual harassment and also claimed that they suffered discrimination while working in his company, will receive total compensation of 19 million dollars. This is stated in the statement published Tuesday on the website of the attorney General of the state of new York Letitia James.

The document States that the agreement was reached in a number of proceedings against Weinstein, as well as the production company the Weinstein Company. It belonged to Harvey Weinstein and his brother Robert. In February 2018, the firm declared bankruptcy.

The statement noted that the funds available to women who are victims of harassment on the part of Weinstein, but also worked at the Weinstein Company and was discriminated against based on sex. How many of them can qualify for payment is not specified. Informed of the charges against Weinstein spoke publicly about 80 women. To decide who of them are entitled to benefit will be a court-appointed specialist.

James stressed that women who had previously signed a non-disclosure agreement of any information relating to Weinstein, no longer bound by them. The Prosecutor said that after the approval of these agreements by the court will create a special Fund from which to pay compensation. It, in particular, will transfer funds to insurance companies cooperating with the Weinstein Company.

Then, the producer was sentenced to 23 years in prison on charges of forcible acts of a sexual nature. A jury in late February found Weinstein guilty of sexual assault against two women.
