Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a date for a nationwide vote on amendments to the Constitution. The vote will take place on 1 July, the President said at the meeting with the working group for preparation of amendments.

the Chairman of the CEC of Russia Ella Pamfilova at the meeting said that July 1 is the optimal voting date. Vladimir Putin has agreed with this.

the Vote should last a week, said Pamfilova. “We propose to hold a vote not only in the day in the date, but within six days before primary day. In total, we offer to our citizens, potential voters were able to vote, when they are most convenient, within seven days to minimize contact and to reduce almost to zero the infection at the time of the vote,” she said.

Pamfilova has proposed to hold the vote as in indoor, outdoor and on mobile sites, also it is assured that the CEC decided not to use the vote by mail.

“We need 30 days from the announcement date of the vote on the Constitution, you need to work out the mechanisms for security of citizens from the coronavirus,” said the President in response to the proposal of the working group co-chair, Senator Andrei Klishas to take a vote at the end of June.

Putin also said that there were proposals to hold a vote on the day of the parade. “There’s nothing to mix. The Victory parade is a sacred thing!” — said the President.

the Head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that the vote will not lead to the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the country. She noted that by 1 July it will be another two incubation period. “Together with our colleagues watched and international experience, we requested the position of our academic experts and developed those recommendations that in our opinion will allow to minimize and to eliminate the risks of proliferation during the voting day”, — said Mrs. Popova.

Press-Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that 1 July is a public holiday.

Recall, the vote on the amendments to the Constitution was scheduled for April 22, but due pandemic coronavirus was postponed. On 28 may, the CEC approved the recommendation of the Commission on organization of voting. In addition, the CEC may simplify the voting process.
